Get to Know Us

Two years ago we adopted a sweet pup named Addy. She is half Poodle and half Golden Retriever, she is unlike any other dog we have had.  She stays right with us, even without a leash,  she has unending patience,  loves kids, and she walks beside my bicycle on a special lead designed for that purpose. We took her to the cabin where she touched a porcupine with her nose.  Anyone who has lived in Alaska's woods and has had to go through this with a dog knows how hard it is to get the quills out of their faces.  I put my arm around her and talked to her and she held perfectly still while my husband pulled all 28 quills, some in her eyelids, some in her nose. She did not yelp, growl, or try to get away. She just flinched each time one was jerked out.

Some days she a dufus and some days she lays quite, but always she is gentle and loving.

I know that Addy will never be a great guard dog and drive off a bear or bite an intruder,  but she will let me know if one is around.

Addy has the curly poodle coat, she either needs to go to the groomer every 6 weeks or she has to get shaved. Because I find it a little cumbersome to plan that far ahead, I decided to find her a mate who has the soft wavy coat. I figured it might help tame the woolly curls in the puppies a little and make their coats more manageable for baths and brushes at home.

Ralph is the mate we chose. He is a multigenerational , part Standard Poodle and  part English Cream Golden Retriever.  He has the broader Teddy Bear  face of the English Cream Retriever. He is a sweetheart as well, eager to please, super smart and very loving.  Both Addy and Ralph have been genetically tested through EmBark for 260 health defects and we will share the results.

We were happy when we found out that Addy was pregnant, as we had a few people who really wanted a pup from her. The vet guessed it would be 7, possibly 8 puppies.  We were very surprised when she had 11!

All the pups are vibrant and healthy and interacting with us wonderfully, already wanting to snuggle, even Lil Half Pint is coming out of her shell and becomming quite active and vocal.

We are trying to give them the attention and space they need.   (Their home has been upsized 3 times in 4 weeks, with 11 pups you can probably understand the need for that.) We have been working on the Misty Method of Potty Training since they were 2 1/2 weeks old, they are progressing wonderfully, no more wet bedding.

We want the best possible homes for our fur babies

We do ask that they not be left at home alone for 8 hours a day while you work, little puppies need to go to the bathroom every hour or two.  We also ask that they don't get left in a crate for hours on end during the day.  We will start  training them to sleep in a crate in our bedroom with the doors removed from the crates.

Puppies teeth until they are 6 months old. This means lots of chew toys, and if you have to leave them for a few hours, baby gates and closed bedroom doors  are wonderful tools to save your leather shoes.

If you would like a very special companion please feel free to contact us as we have a few extra puppies that need loving homes.
